abcGATE allows a searchable index of the metadata from Open Archives Initiative (OAI)-compliant archives, such as sites using Open Journal Systems (OJS) or Open Conference Systems (OCS).

abcGATE was promoted with a vision to be a pioneer and a leader in the indexation of e-information in Asia, with open access scholarly and research content as prime focus. The abcGATE is a global metadata repository for digital resources created by libraries and institutions. This effort will be based on the Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH).
